Manager, Geospatial Science Full Time

We’re looking for a dynamic Geospatial Science Manager to lead our GIS and remote sensing initiatives, supporting key carbon projects and sustainability efforts.

Role Overview:

As the Geospatial Science Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing our GIS and remote sensing team, integrating cutting-edge technologies to enhance environmental and carbon sequestration monitoring. Your expertise in GIS, remote sensing, and leadership will be pivotal in delivering high-quality geospatial solutions that inform critical business decisions related to land management and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of GIS analysts and remote sensing specialists, ensuring high performance and ongoing development.
• Integrate remote sensing technologies such as UAVs (drones), LiDAR, and satellite imagery into GIS workflows for monitoring land use, vegetation health, and carbon sequestration.
• Develop and implement GIS and remote sensing strategies to support AiC’s carbon offset projects and sustainability initiatives.
• Oversee the collection, processing, analysis, and visualisation of geospatial data, ensuring the highest quality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and effectiveness of remote sensing data in environmental assessments.
• Stay at the forefront of technological advancements in GIS and remote sensing, identifying and implementing innovations to improve project outcomes.
• Provide detailed reports, visualisations, and data-driven insights to support decision-making processes and project goals.

What You’ll Bring:

• 7+ years of experience in GIS and remote sensing, with expertise in UAVs (drones), LiDAR, and satellite imagery for environmental monitoring and land management.
• Established leadership experience managing technical teams, including mentoring, performance management, and driving team success in GIS and remote sensing projects.
• Proven success in leading large-scale, multi-year geospatial projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Advanced skills in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, ENVI) and remote sensing tools (ERDAS IMAGINE), with experience in spatial scripting (Python/R) and cloud platforms like Google Earth Engine for automating workflows.
• Strong experience in data integration, combining satellite imagery, UAV data, LiDAR, and ground-based data to provide actionable insights for environmental assessments and carbon offset strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and build strong relationships with regulatory bodies and industry partners.
• A results-driven, innovative mindset, using new technologies to solve complex environmental challenges and enhance GIS and remote sensing processes.
